The sacrament of Confirmation is an important moment in the life of your teen. It is the opportunity for your son or daughter to be more firmly rooted as a child of God and become a fully initialized member of the Church. Through this sacrament your teen will be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and be able to spread the Faith as a witness to Jesus and strengthen their call to serve others.
The Confirmation process is a two year preparation program. Your son or daughter will receive the knowledge to fill their head through curriculum and discussion, respond to God's calling with a true and pure heart and help others with hands on service opportunities. Confirmation marks a lifelong commitment to be a witness for Christ.
The first year's curriculum uses the Theology of the Body for Teens program which is divided into 8 unique segments that reflect the teachings of St. John Paul II. The program gives the answers to tough questions to our Conformandi students concerning their bodies, their sexuality, and their future. It is not a sexual education program. The Theology of the Body can be encompassed in one word: union. Each of us is destined for union: with God and His creation; within ourselves; and with others.
The second year of the program is designed to prepare students intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually to receive the sacrament of Confirmation and become committed disciples of Christ. Through service opportunities, group activities, and classroom discussion, young people are invited to delve deeper into their Catholic faith and have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
The preparation and the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation are parish-based. The parish is the center of lifelong faith development; therefore, it is essential to integrate youth into the life of the parish. Students who attend Catholic high schools and wish to be prepared for the Sacrament of Confirmation need to enroll in their parish Confirmation program. The active participation of all Confirmation candidates in parish life is crucial to strengthening their commitment to the Church and lifelong active membership in the parish community.
